Beyonce finally hits it

Anyone who really knows me knows that I love music. And I don’t mean just a little bit of music love, but a full blown addiction to music. IE – I have something on all the time, I have something playing in my office, in my house, definitely in my truck… And don’t forget… There is always something playing in my head. I absolutely love music. And not just one particular type of music but I love a wide variety of music.

That being said one of my favorite music genres is definitely R&B. I can get down with some of the new stuff, some of it is down right stupid… But that is to be expected in any genre. And yet, R&B is still one of my favs, been that way since I was a kid. I somehow grew up loving groups like the incomparable Boyz II Men, and guys like Stevie Wonder, Marvin Gaye, Smokey Robinson and don’t forget some of the queens both past and present. Diana Ross comes to mind, Whitney, Mariah, I could go on.

I remember the first time I heard Destiny’s Child. I heard One of their singers just hit a few crazy notes on their first single and thought “Dang, doesn’t matter what the group does, this Beyonce girl will do well”! It was definitely the little Russell Simmons in me, I has just started high school.

As you can see I’ve always loved Beyonce, I’ve got most of here albums. A few weeks I was in my truck, running out to a job site and I’m flipping through XM and I stop because I hear Beyonce’s distinctive voice cutting though my speakers. It was just the tail end of a track I hadn’t heard yet. I couldn’t find the name of the track and was a little to busy rocking out for the last 30 seconds to think to shazzam the song. So when I had a moment I did the next best thing, I started searching YouTube. Couldn’t find the track, so I asked some good friends, they tried to help but we couldn’t find the track.

So finally I just threw her new album on my iPhone and just went through it track by track. And there it was “Love On Top”! Now I don’t know exactly what it is with this track but I absolutely love it. It’s the first track I think I’ve ever ears from her that instantly made me think “Wow, she just took that to
Church”! She reminded me of classic Whitney or Mariah! Just absolutely epic on this track. Now don’t get me wrong, I love a ton of her music. But there is something about this track. It’s just a perfect display of her voice and her range. Oh and maybe the lovely open hi-hat hits, I do love a tight hi-hat beat.
